The reason I chose this as a uniquely effective advertisement is because so many times I could relate to how these guys feel. Also because I find it to be a funny advertisement. I think the advertisement has pathos in it because I had an emotional connection to the character that was being sluggish from hunger. The logos being used was the young lady telling the tackled Betty White she needed to eat the Snicker bar to take away the hunger pain to stop being so sluggish.
I would have to agree that the commercial is effective and also funny. I also believe that your interpretation of the logos is dead on accurate. They appeal to you by saying that if you eat a snickers your hunger will be satisfied and you will feel and perform better.
This is an effective advertisement. It is obviously aimed at younger people. The tagline at the end of the advertisement "you're not you when you're hungry." is very representative of the logos. Where the pathos is relating to feeling like a weak elderly lady.
This is definitely an effective advertisement because it is relatable and it uses great logos. I also really enjoy these commercials by Snickers because they are funny, and always get my attention. Your post was spot on!
I have to say, I always found these ads great simply because they were funny and quick to the point. It's hard not to get the logic in "you're not you when you're hungry." when they actually turn the character into someone else while he's hungry. Very clever.
Good choice Toni. I love this commercial. I agree with you and the other comments about it being funny and appealing to us through humor. Also, great job on bringing in ethos and pathos from our lesson this week. It helped me to better understand these terms and to give better analysis. Thanks for your blog this week and keep up the good work.
This commercial made me smile. I feel any commercial that puts a smile or makes a person laugh is effective. It plays to our better nature. This was a better outlook on an effective advertisement. Check mine out if you get the chance. It is more on a sympathetic card than humor. Good job.
I found this commercial cute as well. Any commercial that makes you smile can hit the target, who doesn't love a feisty old lady. It is true that you need to eat when feeling sluggish therefore it is effective, however i don't think eating a snickers is always the key but they sure get it in your head and that's what sells!
I agree that this is an effective advertisement, but I don't agree with you about what is logos and pathos. I think the pathos aspect of this ad is that Snickers is appealing to men's sense of pride, and a fear that they will look weak or inadequate. A pickup football game is a great place for guys to show off in front of their friends and/or girlfriends, and Snickers is telling the viewer that if you cannot perform due to hunger, you will look silly.
